Unless they create their own fuel, it's pretty hard to track a given barrel of oil through the market. It just gets all mixed up together. I suppose they could drill their own oil, build their own refinery and control it that way. But that would be expensive.

While it's not going to stop overnight, I'd like to see us reduce oil consumption so environments like this do not need to be developed. As for BBB and Whole Foods... they really aren't key players in this and I'll choose to ignore their statements.

Oil sands companies are working to try and reduce the carbon footprint. There is talk of installing a reactor for heat and power in the area, in the meantime I guess these companies feel better about supporting the Middle East and Hugo. Hope it bites them in the arse.

I'd rather get oil from Canada even if its from oilsands then OPEC. At least Canada doesn't hate us and try to terrorize us.

Those tiny US retailers won't matter at all. Carbon footprint is bogus, anyway.

I can boycott Bed, Bath and Beyond as well as bicycler suggested. If importing Canadian Oil from their oil sands help lowers the cost of oil for North America I'm behind it 100%! We all nee to do what we can right now, in the short run, until we have proven methods of alternative energy we can depend on. And it sure doesn't look as if the Prius is it, huh? A boycott from an organic food chain such a Whole Foods is to be expected, just more "green weenie" stuff.

Yes, indeed I must be dreaming in COLOUR, but that is all one can do when it comes to gas prices, as we the consumer have no impact on those prices even if we use less which is currently the case.

I used to shop at Bed,Bath and Beyond but now I too can play the boycott game! I am just mean enough to pass the word on also. Anyway most business boycotts are publicity and this sounds like that.

Why doesn't an oil company start a pricing war by selling oil $5 below the asking price per barrel. ( I know they are greedy, it won't happen) but it would be interesting.

I think that the decision taken by these two companies is going to bite them you know where.
I,a Canadian, would buy oil from Texas before OPEC.
USA & CANADA = a true partnership, a border with no hassles to cross.

"U.S. retailers boycott Canadian oil sands"
This could be good news for Canadians, because there will be more of our oil for Canadians to use, which could mean lower prices for Canadians at the pumps.

Yeah, why buy oil from Canada when we can buy it from countries that hate us like Iran? Are these people serious? I don't know how clean or dirty oil from the oil sands really is, but its better then relying on sources from half-way around the world and having it shipped all the way back here.
